The Menopause

Ok so firstly I know this doesn’t apply to many of my clients, including the men…. however not a bad thing you guys get a bit of an insight into the affects of the menopause. It’s you that’ll no doubt get the brunt of our mood swings…..

For us women though the menopause will hit us at some point in our lives.   Some women are fortunate enough to go through the menopause with very little or even no noticeable symptoms.  But, that really does seem to be the minority and I honestly think it’s a good thing to learn about the stages in menopause before you even hit the peri menopausal stages. Knowing what I know now having spoken to lots of women, had they been informed of what to expect and their options then once the big M hit them it wouldn’t have been such a massive shock/change/upheaval to life etc etc.

Menopause is the normal, natural transition in life that begins between the ages of 35-55. During this time, your ovaries get smaller and stop producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone that control the menstrual cycle, your eggs are depleted and fertility declines. Eventually, you are no longer able to become pregnant.

These inevitable changes in your hormones and natural decline of estrogen levels during menopause can significantly affect your health for years to come. There are various stages of the menopause and knowing the signs and symptoms you may experience can be invaluable.
