I’m often asked in classes what exercises they can do to reduce the waistline.

If only it were that simple 😩

Yes exercise will help tone and shape muscle. In fact in my last blog I spoke about defining your upper body through exercise to create a smaller looking waist. So yes there are oodles of exercises we can do but the toning is just part of the equation.

What about the layer of fat sat on top of the muscle??? That needs addressing too …

And then there’s the dreaded menopause 🤔

A decrease in estrogen can cause women in menopause to experience weight gain around the abdominal region and the hips. …

Hormonal changes in your middle years can also cause your metabolism to slow down, leading to weight gain.

HELP!!!!!!

So how can we reduce the belly fat taking hold ?

Here’s a few tips to get you started:

⚡️ Don’t eat sugar and avoid sugar-sweetened drinks. …

⚡️Eating more protein is a great long-term strategy to reduce belly fat. …

⚡️ Reduce starchy carbs from your diet but lots of green veg instead. …

⚡️Eat foods rich in fiber, especially viscous fiber. …

⚡️Exercise is very effective at reducing belly fat and changing the bodies composition

⚡️ Drink plenty of water throughout the day
